Alhumdulillah, through the grace of Allah swt, I was given the opportunity of helping one of our local Masaajid with compiling a Ramadhan checklist for under 8’s. This is only to encourage children to do good. It also helps them feel more involved in understanding Deen and getting into the habit of carrying out acts of worship.

In order for us to succeed in our tarbiyyah for the Children, we must BELIEVE in Allah, make Duaa to Him and trust Him.
I say this one right from the heart and through experience. It does not matter whether your child is disobedient, is being potty-trained or is finding their lessons in school or Madrasah difficult. Help them, explain to them and most importantly make duaa for them because who other than yourself can pray for them from the heart? Yes! Our child is an amanah from Allaah and a test but is the child also not a blessing which we should be thankful for and pray for?
I guess this also applies to our respective spouse because there may be something that you do not like and which is also against the commandments of Shariah for example they forgo their Salaah. Tell them lovingly and pray for them. Then put your trust in Allah.

How often do we tell our children off again for something that has happened before and which we have already dealt with? We teach them to give people a second chance but we never do the same for them. How then do we expect them to go ahead in life? It is then not hard to believe when people complain that their children never tell them anything. If they come to realise that we will never give another chance like we do others, they will find someone else to talk to. Help your children. Give them a second chance.

Children seek love and approval. If we don’t express pleasure where we are meant to, then we should not be surprise when they seek attention in a manner that displeases us.
